Floodplain Manager of the Year 2022 | Alexa Ducioame
Alexa Ducioame was recently named Floodplain Manager of the Year. This award is presented by the Minnesota Association of Floodplain Managers. This is a group of professionals who are dedicated to learning ways to prepare and respond to floods in the state.
This award is given to someone who exemplifies exceptional contributions to mitigating flood risk in Minnesota and was named in honor of Lisa Buchli, who was an active committee member and served on the Minnesota Association of Floodplain Managers Board.
Alexa, a Project Manager at Moore Engineering has been in the industry for more than 10 years. During her time, she worked on some of the area’s most complex projects. She is a Certified Floodplain Manager and well-versed in FEMA floodplain requirements with experience ranging from individual homes to multi-billion dollar projects. Her work on projects like the Ada, MN Flood Control Project, and the Fargo-Moorhead Area Diversion Project has included hydraulic modeling to analyze unique solutions for complex flooding issues with levees, diversion channels, and culvert systems. She has collaborated with clients to create capital improvement plans to best use the funds available to address critical infrastructure concerns. She is passionate about being involved in local organizations and promoting diversity in STEM. Recently, she led a large event for 7th-grade students to learn more about STEM careers from industry leaders.
