Welcome 2024 Interns – Part 3!
For decades, Moore Engineering’s internship program has given students across the region an opportunity to work alongside engineers, surveyors, and scientists as they prepare for a full-time role. Many of our employees first served as interns before starting their careers.
Today, we’re happy to introduce the third set of our 2024 summer interns! Check out our previous blogs to meet all of our interns for the summer!
Jordan Peterson
Engineering Tech I | Bismarck, ND
Meet Jordan Peterson, a Pre-Engineering student at Bismarck State College from Center, ND. He chose to intern at Moore Engineering because they offer opportunities for fresh high school graduates to gain valuable work experience in civil engineering. Jordan is excited to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes in designing and constructing projects. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, kayaking, camping, golfing, playing video games, and running. We’re thrilled to have Jordan on our team!
Payton Sterud
Engineering Tech I | West Fargo, ND
Meet Payton Sterud, a Civil Engineering student at NDSU from Appleton, MN, now residing in Fargo, ND. Payton learned about the internship opportunity at Moore Engineering through the NDSU career fair, where he found everyone friendly and approachable. Impressed by Moore’s projects, he decided to apply. As a child, Payton loved designing and building with Legos, which inspired his engineering career. His favorite college classes are AutoCAD, for its design aspects, and Surveying, for the outdoor experience. During his internship, Payton hopes to gain real-world engineering skills to help him develop into a successful engineer. We’re excited to have Payton on our team!
Riley Pederson
Engineering Tech I | Minot, ND
Meet Riley Pederson, a student at Williston State College, currently residing in Tioga, ND. Riley is excited to intern at Moore Engineering because of the fantastic opportunities the company offers to college students in science and engineering. Inspired by her love for building and creating, Riley is eager to learn more about Moore’s work. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, camping, walking, drawing, painting, and singing. Having interned with us before, Riley looks forward to exploring new learning opportunities this summer. We’re thrilled to have Riley back on our team!
Sterling (Teddy) McCabe
Engineering Tech I | St. Cloud, MN
Meet Sterling (Teddy) McCabe, an Environmental Science student at the University of Winnipeg from Sartell, MN. He chose an internship at Moore Engineering because it provides a great path to his field of study. In his free time, Teddy enjoys being with friends, playing hockey and lacrosse, golfing, and hanging out with his dog. This summer, he hopes to learn about different aspects of engineering and gain insight into job site operations to further his knowledge in the field. We’re excited to have Teddy on our team!
Tarryn Urlacher
Survey Tech I | Bismarck, ND
Meet Tarryn Urlacher, a Civil Engineering student at NDSU from Lincoln, ND. Tarryn is excited to intern at Moore Engineering to gain more knowledge and experience. He enjoys outdoor activities like golfing, hunting, and spending time at the lake cabin. This summer, Tarryn hopes to learn more about the surveying process. We’re thrilled to have Tarryn on our team!
Travis Biery

Meet Travis Biery, a Civil Engineering student at the University of Mary from Sauk Rapids, MN, currently residing in Bismarck, ND. Travis is excited to intern at Moore Engineering after hearing great things from classmates and professors and having a positive interview experience. He is a football player at the University of Mary, enjoys spending time with friends and family, and being outdoors. This summer, Travis hopes to gain in-field experience and learn the ins and outs of working at a job site. Welcome to the team, Travis!
Trever Austin
Engineering Tech I | West Fargo, ND
Meet Trever Austin, a Civil Engineering student at the University of North Dakota from Minot, ND, now residing in Grand Forks. Trever is especially interested in water resources engineering, particularly rural water. He chose an internship at Moore Engineering because he felt the best connection with the Moore staff during interviews and aligns with the company’s ideologies. Inspired by his father to pursue engineering, Trever enjoys riding motorcycles, working out, and hanging out with friends in his free time. We’re excited to have Trever on our team!
Ethan Shafer
Engineering Tech I | West Fargo, ND
Meet Ethan Shafer, currently an intern at Moore Engineering. Originally from Fargo, ND, Ethan has previously worked in Colorado, Vermont, and Australia, bringing a diverse range of experiences to the team. In his spare time, you can find him dancing. We’re thrilled to have Ethan on board and look forward to the unique perspective he brings to our projects!
