Moore wins two ACEC/ND engineering excellence awards
WEST FARGO, N.D. – The American Council of Engineering Companies of North Dakota (ACEC/ND) presented Moore Engineering with two 2015 Engineering Excellence Awards at the ACEC/ND annual banquet on May 12 in Bismarck.
The Shadow Wood development in West Fargo won in the Special Projects category. Shadow Wood is a 540-acre mixed use, multiple subdivision development master planned for residential, commercial and public properties. Construction began in 2007 and incorporated city infrastructure over several phases – water mains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, streets, sidewalks and storm water ponds. West Fargo Park District amenities were uniquely integrated into the development, including a splash pad and outdoor workout equipment along the walking path. Dustin Scott was the Moore Engineering project manager responsible for its successful completion.
A project at Mayville State University (MSU) that improved a street, parking lots, sidewalks and storm water management won the ACEC/ND award in the Small Projects category. Storm water was settling and running in areas that caused premature deterioration of infrastructure. The project more effectively channels storm water in the affected area, placing it in prescribed drainage areas and away from pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The street, parking lot and sidewalks were replaced, greatly enhancing the area’s visual appeal. Kyle Meyer and Jerod Klabunde were the Moore Engineering project managers responsible for its successful completion.
Judging criteria included:
- Uniqueness and/or innovative applications of new or existing techniques
- Future value to the engineering profession and perception by the public
- Social, economic and sustainable development considerations
- Complexity
- Successful fulfillment of client/owner needs
