POW / MIA Plaza

CHALLENGE

The City of West Fargo was in the process of revitalizing its downtown and was working on its first public private partnership (Sheyenne Plaza). The revitalization of the downtown area included a goal to provide an event space and provide a central location for the public to gather.

SOLUTION

The design team worked closely with the developer and City of West Fargo to create a unique plaza that integrated the newly constructed Sheyenne Plaza building into the urban plaza. The urban plaza required right-of-way vacation to provide additional space for the planned activities. Lastly, due to the proximity to residential housing efforts were made to provide minimal impacts to these residents from lighting, sound and traffic.

OUTCOME

The Public Private Partnership successfully created a new urban park offering amenities for all weather and types of activities which include the following: Concert stage, movie nights, artificial turf, skating rink, programing areas (tree lighting, parade grandstand, art, etc.) and other various outside benches and activities.
