Wetland Mitigation | Environmental Services
Mitigation is the process required to replace or compensate for proposed impacts to wetlands. Mitigation can be accomplished by the landowner establishing mitigation wetlands on their own or by purchasing wetland mitigation bank credits from a mitigation bank based elsewhere. Establishing a mitigation bank allows individuals to improve the functional value of their land by creating or restoring wetlands in weak areas to generate credits that can either be used to mitigate wetlands on their own land or be sold later to individuals wanting to impact wetlands on their lands.
