The Groundwater Project

This is an update to our previous blog about the online, peer reviewed, free reference series called The Groundwater Project. This project, led by Dr. John Cherry, is authored by 471 groundwater scientists and educators from around the world and has been translated into several languages. As of December 2023, the project has 42 original publications including two publications for children. The Groundwater Project also makes available some seminal groundwater texts.

The topics range from introductory, such as “Groundwater in the Water Cycle,” to advanced topics like “Structural Geology Applied to Fractured Aquifer Characterization.” I highly recommend visiting the site to find your favorite topics.

This is an astonishingly huge undertaking and one that I believe has, and will, revolutionize the practice of groundwater science by making sound groundwater knowledge available to billions of people so it may be incorporated on many levels into geo-focused projects of all types.

Visit https://gw-project.org/about/ to find out more about what the project has forthcoming.

These references are downloadable (for FREE!) as pdfs. If you wish to support and help fund The Groundwater Project, you can donate here: https://gw-project.org/donate/.
