Strasburg Water Treatment Facility | Project Update

There are always great projects happening at Moore Engineering.  We have been busy in Strasburg, North Dakota working on their wastewater treatment facility. This project allowed us to offer services in design engineering, construction engineering, land surveying, right of way and land acquisition, as well as construction staking.  While we only just started this project in July, we have had a lot of great things happening and we wanted to share with you an update.

The City of Strasburg was discharging its sanitary wastewater into a nearby wetland. While this was a short-term solution for the city, they wanted to be proactive in bringing their operations into compliance with the EPA and the North Dakota Department of environmental quality, as the current practice could eventually pose a pollution risk.

In addressing the need to create a wastewater treatment facility, the city began by obtaining grants from the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality. This generous funding was enough to cover most costs associated with designing and constructing a new, modern, three-cell facultative treatment lagoon system for the purpose of wastewater treatment.  Moore Engineering was able to take the bid in the spring of 2022 and started construction in July.

This project is estimated to be completed by August 2023. Once completed, the City of Strasburg will have a new lift station, force main, and wastewater treatment facility that will follow state and federal regulations. The best part is this new and modern facility will serve the city for at least the next 50 years!

Our engineers love working to improve lives by building strong communities. We have had the pleasure of working on several projects across the region. Keep up with all our projects here.
