Similar to many small communities in Minnesota, the City of Clarissa has old cast iron water mains and vitrified clay sanitary sewer along with deteriorated manholes. The city knew that there was a need, but that need had a large monetary price tag attached.
The City of Clarissa has been working with Moore Engineering, Inc. over the past few years putting together a plan to reconstruct a large majority of their aging infrastructure. Moore has assisted the city in obtaining the necessary funding through a mixture of low interest loans and grants through USDA Rural Development and Minnesota Small Cities (DEED).
These funds will hopefully make the final costs to the residents of Clarissa more affordable.
