Marketing Manager

Manages the marketing, business development and communications activities to support the corporate, regional and office strategic growth goals, and develops tools, training, programs and initiatives to assist personnel responsible for understanding the marketplace and the growth of sales and net revenue.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Activities:

  • Coordinates the development of corporate, regional, and service area marketing plans working closely with regional managers, office managers, and practice leaders to ensure the marketing plan aligns with growth goals and strategies
  • Develops strategies for seeking out, qualifying, and securing new clients
  • Participates in the strategic planning process on both the corporate and regional levels; collaborates with regional managers, office managers, and practice leaders in executing corporate strategic growth and marketing goals and objectives
  • Helps develop and track metrics to measure marketing, business development and sales success; collaborates with regional managers and office managers to recommend, develop and implement changes in marketing and sales plans/strategies to improve success
  • Manages the competitive detailed proposal, statement of qualifications, and presentation process for securing new work
  • Researches client, market, and industry trends
  • Analyzes and understands the company’s competition
  • Analyzes political and legislative landscape
  • Oversees client feedback/satisfaction process and assists in developing strategies to solve any concerns identified
  • Develops and manages marketing material, including promotional items, brochures, newsletters, direct mailing, advertising and other collateral material to document capabilities of the company
  • Manages news clipping service
  • Manages the company’s CRM system
  • Oversees the coordination of conference and tradeshow displays, giveaways, and attendance processes with the assistance of regional managers
  • Manages client gift and tradeshow merchandise

Corporate Communications Activities:

  • Directs the company’s brand and image visibility through the preparation of press releases, website, social media, advertising and internal brand standards development
  • Creates employee communication strategies for various company initiatives and company news
  • Handles public and media relations and develops crisis communication, if needed
  • Oversees website development and maintenance
  • Coordinates any corporate photography needs (i.e., personnel and marketing)
  • Oversees the Company’s corporate philanthropic program
  • Coordinates community outreach activities (market event planning, STEM, etc.)

Management/Administrative Duties:

  • Responsible for determining department budget, staffing needs, hiring, supervising, mentoring and training marketing and communication staff
  • Conducts performance evaluations and addresses performance related issues in a timely fashion

Training Activities:

  • Responsible for the coordination of the following training initiatives: sales training, presentation training, PowerPoint sales presentation development, business/technical/non-technical writing

Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Marketing, or related degree
  • Minimum 10 years of experience  in marketing technical/professional services
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in selling technical/professional services
  • Successfully managed a marketing department in the technical/professional service industry
  • Experience in market research and analysis
  • Possess an outgoing personality.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer strongly preferred
  • Experience in marketing in the Civil Engineering industry strongly preferred
  • Management of successful service sales training programs/activities
